I had my 6 week post partum visit today. I knew something was going on down there with my tear because I have still been experiencing substantial pain in one spot. Turns out that spot didn't heal- it's the very start of the tear, right below my vagina.

So... to get it back together, my midwife decided to cauterize it. :puke: Yep, I said CAUDERIZE. My vagina. OMG... She starts by saying it will "probably sting." Yeah, you think. Oh, and no sex. Like I would ever try and do that with a freshly cauterized vagina.

So now I'm back to having to use the iodine spray bottle when I pee. Gotta go back in two weeks to get the tear looked at again and to get fitted for my FemCap, which I can hopefully use in the near future. The lack of sex is really starting to wear on me.

Oh my!! Ouch!!:support: One of my tears never healed and I had to have surgery. I never had the option to have it cauterized though...Not that I would have wanted to...

Ouchy! I'm sorry, I hope it hurries up and heals and you can get back to normal!:support::hug:

Geez....you poor thing....I can't stop thinking about how freaked I would be if I had to go through that....sounds really painful! Did they numb you at all? Not that a needle would have felt great either.

Nope, no numbing. I was fully expecting some sort of local, but nothing at all. They use silver nitrate to cauterize. I have no idea what that is, but it burns like hell...

Oh, and the last time my midwife told me something was gonna "sting a little" was when I was in labor and she put water pupules in my lower back. Not sure if you guys have heard of these, but it's injecting sterile water into your back in four spots to help with back labor. It did help, but the PAIN... omg. It felt like someone lighting your back on fire, not once, but four freaking times. Needless to say, I was terrified when she started the cauterizing. It actually hurt less than the water pupules, at least.

FYI - I found this on a website about cauterizing with silver nitrate:

Silver nitrate can be used in a medical environment as a chemical cauterizing agent and medicinal caustic. A typical applicator is composed of 75% silver nitrate with 25% potassium nitrate. As the silver nitrate contacts with water (in the blood) the compound goes into solution forming nitric acid. The acid subsequently is responsible for the cautery effect.

Hmm...interesting! I'm sorry it hurt, I hope this is the end of it!:support:
