View Full Version : Matt is not going to be a good big brother...
ask me how I know!!
I went over to my parents today because my dad wanted us out of the house since they were working in the kitchen.
My mom is watching twin babies (so cute btw!) I was holding one of the babies and Matt came running over to me and started pulling on my shirt and whining really hard.
Then my mom went over to him and told him to look at the baby's tiny foot and he smacked the foot :look:
I don't think he's going to be happy when Baby James arrives and that makes me really sad.

He'll get over it. We're still working on it here but it's definitely getting better. I think every family goes through it and while it's tough for a while everything eventually works out.
In our case, and any of us with 2+ boys, I think the one that's the target of all the animosity will end up being one tough little cookie that will eventually kick the crap out of the older sibling once their older. :twothumbs: :hehe:

:hehe: He'll get used to it, I'm sure.
I went to visit a girlfriend and her new baby last week. Aiden FLIPPED when I held the baby. He was sobbing and scratching at me to hold him. He also stole the poor baby's pacifier and threw it across the room.
Our nutso boys seriously need to have a play date.

Oh no
My friend just had a baby and her 2 year old isn't too thrilled about it. She was nursing him the other day and he ran over and smacked the baby on the head  :look:

well Jo I'm not going to tell you it's all going to be fine at first but Sadie was 3 and she gave Dylan a few smacks. Maybe your wrong and he'll do just fine but just make sure to keep you eyes on them closely when they are together and eventually Matt will get use to him and he'll stop if he is a little jealous. Sadie and Dylan soon became the best a friends even now i can't pry them from each other (and not that's annoying):hehe:
Make sure you give Matt something when James is born and tell him it's from James and what I use to do was every time we gave Sadie something or did something I told her it was Dylan's idea to do it for her.:hehe:

It will be alright.:support:
There will be jealousy but you will work through it.
When Av was like a month old Connor yanked him off the couch. All was well but look at them now!:hehe:
Just part of the experience of having a second child. Promise, it will be alright.:support:
Thanks Ladies :grouphug:
I hated my little sister for the longest...can't even tell you.:hehe:

I'm an only child so I have no idea how the sibling thing works- I'm terrified.
Isabella will teach you :hehe:

I never had any issues in the beginning with my two if that gives you any hope. It's now that she moves around and gets into his stuff that it's a problem :hehe:

It depends on the kid. DH ignored his sister for a year apparently :hehe: Not much different from now I suppose. Maybe that's a boy girl thing??
We did a few things with Charlie that helped him get adjusted to the idea. We just talked about babies and cuddled him a little extra. When John was born John brought Charlie this super duper cool tool set! That was a great distraction. Then we (and still do) tell John he has to wait and it's Charlie's turn. So if John just finished eating we'd put him down and would tell him he had to wait so we could be with Charlie. Then we told Charlie the same when I had to nurse John. The annoying part is Charlie quickly caught on to the "My TURN!" thing :hehe: Now, though Charlie will tell me "Mom, John night night please!" if he's tired of me being with John. :hehe: Overall, though...he's a great brother and has totally surprised me. Hopefully, Matt will do the same. :lovey:
We're buying Matt a baby doll...we're hoping this helps :)

Aiden loves his little baby. He actually gives her the bottle and will share his pacifier with her!
But then I found her stuffed in the compartment of his firetruck.

You may be surprised. Eli was the same way when I would hold another persons baby. But when Addy came it was different that was his little sister and he will tell you that! LOL Matt may surprise you.

aww! How cute. I really hope he is like that but he'll still only be 17 months so I know he really won't understand.
