View Full Version : She won't keep her clothes on!

I don't know what is going on but Ava takes off her clothes all the time! For a while I went along with it because she would say she was hot or it was uncomfortable...and I would get her something else to wear.
She was totally lying! She is just obsessed with changing her outfits. She fights me on what to wear, so I pick a few different things that match and let her choose, thinking that she is just being independent. That worked for a while...not anymore.
Anytime she is in her room she pulls clothes out of her dresser and puts on whatever, then a couple minutes later she takes it off, puts it in the clothes basket and gets something else.
She will take off her shirt or pants randomly and when I ask her why...she says it's dirty.:wtf:
She has a whole basket of "dress-up" clothes and accessories to play with, but for some reason it's not enough I guess.
Is this a normal thing? Is it a girl thing?

Totally normal and totally a girl thing. :support: Sara hasn't hit that phase and I'm really hoping that she doesn't but from what I have seen from her cousins, its totally seems like its completely normal. Try to put limits on her and give her some ground rules. Give her options as to what she can wear and limit how many outfit changes you will allow. You may have to use some mile disciplinary actions, like a time out, if she starts to break the rules you set out for her. It is sooo a girl thing, eventually it will pass. :support:

Sadie did that too for awhile, it will pass.
Sadie would drive me nuts to put on dresses all day long.

It doesn't get any better lol. Kylee is 8 and she still does it. I bet she changes clothes 3 times a day. We get on her, because it makes laundry hell, but she won't stop. Totally normal though.

See now Cash won't keep his clothes on, but it's not because he wants to change outfits, he just wants to be naked

:hehe: :ditto: to Lily. Nathaniel would much rather be in only a diaper than to have clothes on.

Yeah, it's a struggle for me to keep him just in underwear! Cash is totally going to be like Terry Bradshaw in that Failure to Launch movie when he grows up, with a naked room and all. "These clothes must weigh a hundred pounds..."

My cousin Liz did this. Drove everyone CRAZY!
Finally, my aunt had to lock her closet and bedroom door because the child would go through 5 outfits a DAY and it was just out of control.
I did this with panties...I'd purposefully wet myself so I could change into cuter panties :hehe:
Dylan never did it...she couldn't care less about clothes. She's still that way :thumb: I have a feeling that Aidan will be my little fashionista. Already she changes her shoes every 10 minutes  and walks around telling me how "cuuuuuute" everything is!
Liam did this all.the.time.
It drove me up the wall because at the end of the day new clothes would be in his hamper and I wouldn't know what was dirty and what wasn't. Argh! So it's a boy thing too ;)

Totally normal. I'ver heard of more girls doing it than boys, but they all do it.
