View Full Version : Activities?
Someone enlighten me:
What do you with a 2 month old for stimulation?
Matthew could care less about his toys and such. The mobile lasts for 10 min and have I mentioned tummy time sucks for him?
I feel like I should be doing more with him but can't figure out what...
At 2 months their vison is still surprisingly bad, so they can't see a lot of what's going on and they are still trying to adjust. I know how you feel, I felt guilty if my baby was just content sitting in his vibrating chair while I did something else....looking back I should have just enjoyed it more because it lasts for such a short time. ;) Just talking, singing and reading to your baby are all perfect activities for this age. Showing some high contrasted color (like black and white) objects and toys is also good. Other than that just enjoy snuggling.;)

Something you could try is get a mirror (like those long mirrors you use to see how your outfit looks) and put it on the floor. Put him on his tummy (use a towel to kinda prop him up). Then spin some colorful wiffle balls around on the mirror. See if he tracks it. Do it for maybe 5 minutes at a time every day and you'll be amazed at how much he'll follow those balls eventually!

Conner never did much at that age but chillax in his bouncer. It was his favorite. Honestly I just enjoyed that because once he is Conner's age, man it's all over! lol

Ava pretty much hated everything until around 3 months.:eyeroll: She loved music though, but not "kids/baby" music...she liked my music, I think because it was what I listened to while I was pregnant.:))
I think music or reading would be good for his age. He is still adjusting to all the crazy stuff around in his new world. I used to worry that Ava was crying because she was bored...nah she was just mad at the world.:p
I had a piece of fabric that had black, red, and white on it...I would lay it over the back of the couch and Ava would just stare at it and study it.

Reading is a good one, they enjoy your voice. Do you have a playmat to put him on? Lily loves that although now she flips over onto her belly all the time! But she will still play with it sometimes & it was great when she stayed on her back.

I don't know if Matthew has the neck for it, but my kids loved being carried forward-facing. It entertained them all day long.
Beyond that, Tasha likes everything for maybe 2 minutes. So, we do back play on the floor for 2 minutes, then on tummy for 2-minutes, then in bouncy seat for 2 minutes, then face-to-face with Mommy/siblings for 2-minutes, and then back to floor play. I bet I'm preparing her for a life filled with ADHD, but so be it. :))
OMG he hates everything. I'm glad I don't have the only child who can't sit still for 2 min. He is always in my arms.
I thought maybe I was not doing something right. You know, holding him all day and just making him "play." He likes to do silly thing song things like me clapping his fists (lol) and singing a song to it or doing bicycle...that lasts for about 5 min and then he starts screaming.
His neck control is getting better but not enough for forward facing yet.
Thanks for all the suggestions!! I'm really glad to hear it's just that age.
Oh and I bought this dvd to exercise with him to. I really hope it gets me moving and him interested.
